One of my biggest passions is working with special needs learners. As a classroom teacher I worked closely with special education teachers to make the general classroom a place for all learners. I have experience in differentiating lessons, curriculum, and strategies to make them work for students with special needs.
As a private tutor I have worked closely with many students with special needs. As with all learners I believe it is imperative to develop relationships with my learners to really get to know “what makes them tick.” I have seen how much of a positive difference it makes to develop a connection. It makes the student feel more comfortable and confident working with a tutor, and it also helps me as the educator better understand their needs and the best ways I can help.
I have experience supporting learners with many different types of disabilities, some of which include: Autism, Specific Learning Disability, MR, Dysgraphia, ADD/ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, Auditory Processing Disorder, ED, Hearing Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, Language Impairment, Speech Impairment, OCD, diabetes.
